Mister Ponderous occassionally scratches his chin hmm
there was thing. He is prone to pontificating
on the most arcane of subjects, especially
ones wherein he felt he was something of a gourmand.
When he moves in his vast leather chair
it is like an exclamation of air,
“Not so much harrumph as phzzzt, preposterous,
energy must have some source.”
They want to take the ego out and replace it
with some vague theory of nothingness
in pursuit of zen
moments of laughter,
you could try that.
Some ironical twist
and a change of voice.

“What’s for breakfast, Blue” (for a threelegged
dog tribute poem double self
portrait with hinge.. .
you can’t make an omelette without
you see some of us were born to trouble
son when seeing flocks of sheep idly
graze on each others thoughts
in fantasy fields of gentle lies
agreed by some mere mutuality
can’t help but bark and it’s your
job, Blue, to get ’em moving in the other
direction, they’re headin’ for the gate, boy,
even it means the only friend left to
talk to is you, Blue,
he says,
melting butter and chopping garlic.

right there on your TV, people don’t scare easy these days, they really only believe in the harsh reality of physical pain and have abandoned the old ideals of good and evil and their infestations by various creatures best expressed through naked imagination. Horror is the exercise of power over another human being without their consent. Unless of course they don’t realise it and they are happy.

    and somewhere cracks a whip
    otherwise yeh dead son
    roe your boat home
    stumbling into haikus
and scaring flocks of birds a’flyin’
    leda abandoned into zeus

who gains most from this transaction
    the one who acts from
    some wild reaction?

    then trapdoors open
    of their own accord
    and spiders scuttle
    thrust their way inside
    some skull,

    long after worms have left
    even of its ghost bereft
    the hanged mans corpse
    mouth wide open deep

    inside some diamond glitters
    the pirates prize,
    shining like Blake’s tigers eyes,

who gains most from this transaction,
the one who acts from wild reaction.

The Japanese pornographer crossed her long legs and smiled. He won’t go a cent over fifteen thousand she said.

Hector was dead by the time Simon got back to Brisbane carrying the suitcase containing both the film and the fifteen thousand.

She had fingernails he slurred at the Brazilian stripper later that night and each of them had a different animal carefully embroidered.

He woke up in a different city in a room with just a Japanese woodcut of a wave over the bedhead, there was a knock on the door and that was that then, he said, as I reassured him, don’t worry the warden has seen fit to provide a brand new kit given the incidence of sickness, so a Japanese Wave tattoo, as his veins swelled, there must be a story behind that,
