Take a position and articulate it because there is no point in just describing the world through the lens of the self. Everything already describes itself perfectly so your description will always be less than the thing itself. To create you must take a position, you must have some fundamental honesty, something which you actually believe is true beyond description. So you must first take a position, the crane, the dragon, the red kangaroo in the heat of the day snoozing in the shade and still pecking at bits of grass,

“The point of Art is to mythologise the tiny self large enough to scare big ideas into existence.”

  1. note to self, not stealing, borrowing, for the GBS quote and the vase to fill etc, hurry up time is of the essence, boing boing, snooozzzzeeeeee,

  2. Perfect. That is the point indeed, not just the point of art, but the point of life itself. To create and recreate our Self. Which comes from realizing and respecting the truth about what the Self Is. Perfect. Brilliant post, happens to be perfectly on the same wavelength as the universe’s truth, haha, do you believe in alchemy? I know you believe that the whole is more than the sum of its parts, which is actually very true.
    Perfect. Perfection in itself.

  3. One of my favourite posts paul.

  5. So, then, if I truly believe my golf swing is as good as it can possibly be, that its magnificence is already beyond that which any instructor could ever improve, then it is truly art and everyone should admire it for its rugged though unkempt beauty? Possibly… most everyone loves Dali.

  6. it’s one of my faves too. beautiful, and deep.

  7. Wow. Exactly.

  8. The only point I understand is the one in geometry. What else can you expect from a maths teacher?!

However, the point you made here is not pointless.

  9. Rock on Petey. I do not need to create my own subjective reality because my friends at Fox News (O’Reilly, Hannity, and Shephered) bundled a pre-fab existence for me to digest along with my dinner. to each their own though. I ain’t my paint, brush, paper, hard drive space, or freeway underpass.

  10. There is something here that reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, maybe the cricket game and its explanation. I have to go back and check the reference.

  11. This time I will not d-e-s-c-r-i-b-e what you said or how it feels like:) Just wanted to say that I have been looking for something to get healed since early morning…Your sayings along with the song on the right “Dance with me…” have helped a lot…

  12. Wow, wonderful comment comet shower and Hayat that comment is one of my alltime favourites, thankyou,
